Evaluation of the Editing

Some uses of editing that i used were match on action to show what he is looking at or picking up, i
also kept continuity. I also used some alternative techniques such as cross fades to show a passing in time in only one cut by having the new scene fade in and the old scene fade out.

The reason i thought that they work well since i feel like it gives a clear narrative and it gets the message across an i feel like it holds interest.

The reason that these techniques are suitable is because it keeps it simple and does not go too far and does what it needs to do which is keep the audience interested and keep the project flowing and keep continuity.

The techniques that my peers found successful were some of the alternative techniques that i used to make jumps in time such as the cross dissolve and a zoom in technique which actually showed a passage of time.

The meaning of some of the techniques that i used in editing were to not make the edit boring and to make appeal to my target audience and to make it overall more interesting. And i also did it to get the message across more clearly mainly because i used alternative techniques on the pass it on moments.

Some editing techniques that i used were regular cuts i also used cross dissolves and fades. i also used a zooming sort of cut but i do not know the name of it.

In my opinion the editing techniques makes them flow well and makes the project less boring by taking away any long unbroken shots an i think that i looks a lot more professional than what it would. It looks like it was actually meant to be there no like it was an editing mistake. And overall i thought that i used editing very effectively throughout this project. And i thought that it came out very well.

TASK 1

PASS TASK
Write your own brief for Urban Net – what is your idea?
Which existing Artist’s Music Video or Channel Ident are you adapting or developing?
I will be adapting and developing the BBC three ident. My idea is to create an ident that can interest my target audience, which is the age of 16-25 year olds. The ident will be done using stop motion.

What content are you adapting or developing from the existing products?
The way that they created this ident was using CGI and using brighter colours to appeal to a wider audience I will be using stop motion but I will be keeping the bright colours since it appeals to the audience more.

Who is the existing audience it is aimed at?
Age: 16-25
Sex: male and female
Ethnicity: all ethnicities
Subculture: I will be using
What is your initial idea?

MERIT and DISTINCTION Task 5: Write up your annotation and your final developed and chosen idea
Having completed your research activities looking at existing products, formats and audience research use the findings to shape an effective idea.
The chosen idea will be developed to consider the finer details
Task 5b)
Conclusion - how do your research findings develop your idea?
Cover each of  the following ‘finer details’ in your response:
(MERIT) How did what you found out affect the development of your idea?
(DISTINCTION) Define how you will use this in your idea to make you product effective?
Shots, angles and framing

When I was looking for different idents I saw that they was all using similar shots and angles to try to keep the viewer engaged

editing decisions

The ident in all of the idents were very fast paced and quick cut and was in sync with the background music that was used.

Costume

With the idents that I saw all of the actors were wearing casual clothing to appeal to the target audience.

locations

Most of the idents that I saw mainly just use green screen to put the actors in a different location instantly.

Narrative

The idents that I saw did not really have any structure to them they just introduced the logo and company with music playing over it.

Audience feedback, preferences and expectations

The audiences seemed to enjoy what the idents brought to the table since there was a lot of colour to attract more and more people.

Social Network responses (Distinction)

MERIT: Revisions made to the original idea need to be logged with reasons why
Task 5c)
Revisions made to the original idea need to be logged with reasons why
Cover each of  the following aspects in your response:
(MERIT) Your annotation – what revisions have you made to the original idea?
(MERIT) ...and Why?
Looking at other current examples - conventions

My idea has a lot of conventions compared to the other idents and they was very similar. But will be using stop motion instead of CGI

Audience likes and comments on exiting examples

The audiences really liked the colours and the fast paced quick cut editing since it kept their focus.
