Self evaluation

some of the technical strengths of our ident were that the editing works well with the music being quite fast paced and original the use of the blue screen i thought was really good since you can not really see it contrast with the models so it doesn't come off as cheap or bad.

however some of our weaknesses were that the animation technique came of quit stiff and no very smooth in my opinion it id not really flow very well at all and just looked incredibly stiff and fake to me.

I also think that it appeals to the audience since the image is constantly moving so people wont get uninterested and will always be focused on the ident. I also think that it is suitable to the target audience since it uses music that people would listen to nowadays and that is popular and uses bight colours rather than quite bland colours.

what looked good visually about our ident is that it had a lot of bright colours that would attract more people. The image is constantly moving so people can keep their interest and not get bored so quickly by this ident.

this ident compared to the original intention changed quite a bit from what we originally intended since we originally had different models originally such as shapes and other objects we decided o change this to snakes since we thought that it would be easier to animate an create the models in the first place. And then we took out the idea of the city skyline since it was quite hard to get some images without a blue sky since we had a green model so we had to use a blue screen and the fact that most of the city skylines were still images so to make it more interesting and less boring we decided to make it a moving image. And we decided to use a moving wall with graffiti on it to try to fit in with the urban theme.

Self Evaluation

Assignment 3, Task 4: Self-Evaluation worksheet

The Brief
You have been commissioned by the marketing agency ‘Don’t Panic’ to create a 30 second Viral Video Advert that creates Buzz for the ‘Random Acts of Kindness 2016’ campaign targeting 16-25 College Students and University Students. Your Viral Ad should follow the ASA regulations, be aware of copyright and trademark issues, and have a clear ‘positive’ narrative and message: to ‘Pass it On’ and encourage the audience to take part during campaign, and share the Ad with their networks to make it viral.

1.    Summarise your feedback.
Client
The client said that I had some decent ideas and that I actually sated about passing it on but did not have any viral buzz and would not be able to attract an audience sinceit is not unique enough.
Target Audience

My target audience said that my idea was ok but had a few flaws since they were wondering where I could get the things for the actual advert and that it did not have any viral buzz.

Peers
My peers said that the advert had decent ideas and that it was a bit different. But they said that it had no viral buzz and that it was not that unique and they wondered how it would attract an audience.

How successful was your advert in fulfilling the brief according to their feedback?

My advert was quite successful in terms of the brief since they said that it had decent ideas and that it stated about the actual message of pass it on but did not have the personal strength of being unique which made it lack viral buzz.

2.    Self-evaluation
What are 3 Technical strengths of your advert & why?

1.    The advert was shot very well and was also very centred

2.    I would say that the idea really came across and showed through the actual advert.

3.    I also thought that it was well lit and had very vibrant lighting which really helped make the shots look as good as they did.

What was strong/needs improving and why?
1.    Use of camera shots and framing, did you shoot enough footage to create interest?
Strong or needs improvement? I thought that we shot enough footage to create interest.

Why? Since we had enough going on in the actual shots to create interest.

2.    Use of editing techniques – does the narrative makes sense? Is there a clear Beginning, Middle, End? Is it Creative (non linear, alternative editing like montage or jump cuts?) Is it fast enough for the audience to be interested?
Strong or needs improvement? I thought that the editing was quite fluent and it flowed very well.

Why or how? I thought that it was very clear that it had a beginning middle and end that people could easily identify.

3.    How professional does it look technically – steady camera, framing, tight-editing, use of sound with images, use of props and costume and location?
Strong or needs improvement? I thought that it looks quite professional since all of the shots are static I thought that they are framed quite well also.

Why or how?

4.    Does the costume, location and props make this convincing and do they create meaning – characters, help to tell the story?
Strong or needs improvement? I thought that the props make it convincing and the background since he is using things people in college use every single day and hands them to people who don’t have it but need it.

Why or how?

5.    Does it meet the demands of the brief and client - does it get the message across?
Strong or needs improvement? I think that it meets the demands of the brief and I feel like it does get the message across quite clearly.

Why or how?

6.    Did/Would this go Viral – did it create enough Buzz?
Strong or needs improvement? I do not think that this advert will go viral.

Why or how? As much as the advert carries the message of pass it on it does not show any form of viral buzz which would attract a wider range of audience and make it go viral.

7.    Does it meet the full range of the audience?
Strong or needs improvement? I think that it meets the full range of audience since it is intended for a certain age group and makes it work.

Why or how?

Conclusion: What are 3 main areas for improvement & why?

1 try to add more buzz to it to make it more popular.
